But, what format does it record in?
…um, I dunno?

So, this is a test.. Recorded straight into the iPhone using voice recorder… no mic, no nothin’

And here’s a version converted to mP3 using Alto Mp3 Gold – 320kbps

What’s the best recording set-up for iPhone? I think I’ll try Sonoma’s “FourTrack” – anyone used it?

So, I did a little research into what headphones I should use with my new gizmo, and after much too’ing and fro’ing I settled on the Beats By Dre – Tour… There’s a video below that goes a long way to describing why… These little guys are made by Monster, awesome cables, awesome cans…

One by-product of having a decent set of headphones with a decent mic is that you can use voice recorder to record random podcast type events… though, it’s a pain in the bum to get those podcasts off… I’d suggest you use iPhone Explorer so, yeah, I recorded a very interrupted podcast whilst washing dishes…

Hils is a multi-talented singer-songwriter from South London. With an effortless singing style, Hils beautiful Folk~Rock sound showcases mellow guitars and rhythms, with her extremely catchy, emotive and insightful song writing.

Hils was introduced to music from the early age of six when she learnt to sing and play the piano. She remembers forming her first band in her friends loft, playing blur and no doubt covers! A few years later, inspired by a few female singer-songwriters she saw playing in London, Hils decided to teach herself the guitar and start writing.
Surrounding herself with musicians and producers at every opportunity, Hils recorded her first few songs and took the decision to pursue her music further attending the prestigious ACM music college. This saw the start of Hils Granger the solo artist as she got a great band behind her, finished writing her EP and began playing shows most nights around London and the South. Hils independently released her EP ‘Dreams Become Things’ on iTunes in June 2009.

<itunes:summary>I like to showcase new artists from time to time and that’s true of today… Introducing “Hils Granger” …before you read further or go off, clicking crazy.. I want you to press play on tape…

During this time Hils also started playing session keys for singer-songwriter Ellie Lawson, sponsored by Quiksilver, playing shows regularly in the UK and Europe. Hils continues playing keys and singing for Ellie, Si Connelly and Archangel bands whilst concentrating on writing and finishing her debut record, which will be released later in the year.
You can find the Hils Granger website here, you can also follow her on Twitter, Facebook and MySpace… You can also purchase Hils’ music on iTunes or check more of her stuff out on iLike and YouTube
Yeah, this girl knows her social media…
Enjoy!

I love my music, I love my photography and for the last two years I’ve been combining those two things in my quest to become a music photographer… Well, I got what I wanted and I’ve had an amazing time doing it! I wanted to be that guy, the one in the pit in front of the crowd, nothing to distract me from the band, just me and them and my camera and that was that.

My very first music photograph - The Rushes

I’ve decided to give my little project the weekend off, let it out to pasture. I’m done with music photography for a number of reasons and I’m very happy with what I’ve achieved in the last two years.

My highlights, well… Alice in Chains was special, Metallica was powerful, NiN was sombre, Counting Crows was electric, Dave Matthews Band was invigorating, Lou Rhodes was emotional, U2 was large… The list goes on and on (well, for another 90 or so bands)

Further down the track - Stefan | Dave Matthews Band

What did I learn? Most bands don’t even know you’re there, PR agencies think they’re god and are part of what is wrecking the music industry, You don’t need a really good camera but it helps, It’s hard to focus sometimes when you’re singing, Alcohol and photography are not friends, Photographing festivals is tiring and inspiring and some artists, the ones that do see you, and encourage you and engage you, they’re awesome. (There’s one like this, I’ll be shooting her again – but for the love of it)

Like I said in podcast four, Maybe it’s time to check out other areas of photography, I don’t like being stuck on the one country road for to long, so maybe it’s time to get that baking book that my friend Nicki gave me out and start baking and snapping – though, we already know just how good I am in the kitchen!

I love this song, it transports me back about 17 years. I’d just moved to Melbourne and was living with my brother and his wife in Flemington.
